Solvents can be used in the paints manufacture, adhesives, degreasers, thinners, lubricants, in the extraction of oils (soybean oil production), for cleaning machines and several chemical products. It also has various other industrial applications.

In the manufacture of paints and varnishes it’s utilization goes from adjusting the viscosity of the grinding paste to the regulation of the fluidity of paints, also serving as a vehicle during filling. Functioning as a carrier of non-volatile components, the solvent has the main function of adjusting the paint, improving spread ability and facilitating the application.

Butyl Acetate

Butyl Acetate is an Acetic Peroxide Solvent, mainly used in automotive paints due to it's optimal solubility in major synthetic (acrylic, alkyd, modified phenolic) and natural resin (esterified rosin) used in this segment. It has a medium evaporation rate and presents grade urethane also being applied in Polyurethanes (PU) systems; this technology is used in automotive refinishing, wood, white lines, among other uses.

Butyl Glycol

Butyl Glycol is a true polar organic solvent and retardant of the Glycol Ethers family. It has great solvent ability, is biodegradable (being totally soluble in water) and has low volatility. It is a great solvent for paint and varnish formulations as it has an excellent compatibility in a wide variety of resins. In addition, it also increases the whitening resistance, improving brightness and viscosity. It is widely used in water-based paint formulations, while it reduces the surface tension of water, it increases the penetration of paint and lacquers, improving the strength and flatness of the film.
